A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following two stabbings at Wigan Interchange.

Police say he remains in custody this morning (Thursday 11 September) as detectives continue to investigate.

Several cordons are still in place around the transport hub.

A 42-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy are being treated in hospital.

Both have serious injuries but their conditions are not thought to be life-threatening.

A teenage girl arrested on suspicion of helping an offender has been questioned and released on bail.

Superintendent Danny O’Neil said the attack was an isolated case and there is no wider risk to the public.

He added that bus services around the interchange are facing delays while police carry out enquiries, and thanked people in Wigan for their cooperation.
