A 28-year-old man has been jailed after losing control of a £100k McLaren and crashing into a house in St Annes.

Zachary Hocking, from Grand Manor Drive, Lytham, was driving the supercar at an average speed of 91mph in a 30mph zone when he crashed on Heyhouses Lane in December 2023.

Both the car and the house caught fire following the collision, but no-one inside the property was injured.

Hocking and his passenger, a man in his 20s, suffered serious injuries. The passenger was thrown approximately 25 metres from the wreckage.

He admitted causing serious injury by dangerous driving at Preston Crown Court and was sentenced to 28 months in prison and banned from driving for 74 months. He will have to take an extended driving test to regain his licence.

Insp Greg Laidlow of Lancashire Police's Road Policing Unit said Hocking’s driving was “extremely reckless and selfish.”

“You only need to look at the wreckage of the car to conclude it’s a miracle that no-one was killed," Insp Laidlow said.

He praised the investigation team, adding: “Thanks to the dogged and tenacious work of PC Ben Doughty supported by the Forensic Collision Investigation Unit in what was a very complex and lengthy investigation which has resulted in a substantial prison term and a significant driving ban which means that Hocking will not be allowed behind the wheel for a long period of time.”
