Man banned from Lancaster centre after assaulting people in town

A man has been jailed and banned from Lancaster city centre for two years after assaulting multiple people in the city.

41-year-old Stephen Williams has been sentenced to 24 weeks in prison.

The court heard how Williams punched a man in his 20s outside the Greens pub, North Road; shouted and pushed a woman working in Greggs on Cheapside; dragged the female officer arresting him against a shop window; and pushed a PCSO.

He pleaded guilty to two offences of assault by beating of an emergency worker and two offences of assault by beating.

He was also ordered to pay a surcharge of £154 and was given a two-year Criminal Behaviour Order.
