Southport man jailed for several domestic abuse offences
His victim says she still suffers flashbacks
A Southport man has been jailed for eight years for multiple offences against a woman over a ninth month period.
Nathaniel Lockie, 36, of Station Road, in Southport, appeared at Liverpool Crown Court today, Friday 14 February, after he was found guilty of the following offences:
- Sexual assault
- Assault
- Threats to disclose private sexual images
- Stalking causing fear of violence
- Breach of restraining order
Lockie was arrested as part of an investigation into his actions towards a woman between November 2023 and July 2024.
Lockie threatened the victim, would call her up to 200 times a day and assaulted her during an incident in June last year.
In a Victim Personal Statement read in court, the woman said: “Due to everything that has happened between us, I have nightmares about everything. These can be extremely intense and I wake up crying, gasping for breath.
“I often get flashbacks and several things will trigger me. I’m on medication because I find it difficult to sleep. With everything that happened I believe he genuinely wouldn’t stop until he ruined by life. The whole ordeal has been mentally torturing and I still continue to the effects.”
Detective Constable Lara Smith, who is the officer in charge of this case, said: “The appalling actions of Lockie over a sustained period of time would have had a huge detrimental impact on the victim.
“Thankfully she found the courage to report his offences, but despite the overwhelming evidence he still chose to deny the allegations and forced his victim to go through the ordeal of a trial.
“I’m pleased that a jury found him guilty and he will now spend time in prison to reflect on the long-lasting impact that his actions have caused this woman.
“It’s clear from her Victim Personal Statement that the horrendous experience still affects her to this day and I hope she can now move past this knowing he is behind bars.” Hear all the latest news from across the UK on the hour, every hour, on Greatest Hits Radio on DAB, smartspeaker, at greatesthitsradio.co.uk, and on the Rayo app.
