Southport is set to welcome back the Artisan Market for its third instalment this coming May Bank Holiday weekend, promising a vibrant celebration of local talent and craftsmanship.

This Saturday, 2nd May, stalls will line King Street in front of Southport Market from 10am to 4pm. Families can expect a bustling scene of over 50 independent sellers showcasing arts, crafts, handmade goods, and delightful food and drink options.

Southport Market will complement the Artisan Market offerings with a variety of street food and beverages, sourced from local independent traders.

Coinciding with the market, the Big Top Festival will unfold across five performance stages along Lord Street and its vicinity on Saturday and Sunday, the 2nd and 3rd of May. This festival will host acts from global performers alongside local talent, providing a platform for excitement with clowning, stilt walking, and juggling opportunities for all ages.

Lisa Cowley, owner of Independent Street, expressed enthusiasm for the market's resurgence:

“We’re so excited to be back in Southport for our artisan market.

Over the last two months, this event has really been building momentum and has received a fantastic response from the local community. There’s already such a buzz around the Big Top Festival this weekend, and we can’t wait to be part of it on Saturday!

This month, all of our stalls will be located outdoors on King Street, keeping us right in the heart of the action.

A huge thank you to Jordan and Sefton Council for their continued support – it’s set to be an incredible weekend for Southport.”

As part of the event festivities, Merseyrail is offering a £2 train ticket deal for adults and £1 for children, providing easy access to Southport from anywhere on the Merseyrail Network on the days of the event.

Independent Street, host of the market, champions small businesses and offers local artisans a platform to present their creations, fostering a community spirit. The market launched in March and is scheduled to occur on the first Saturday of every month throughout the year.

With free entry, live music, and a welcoming atmosphere, Southport Artisan Market promises to be a delightful experience for all ages. Local artisans interested in participating can find both indoor and outdoor trading options available.
