Five arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after Skelmersdale shooting
Lancashire Police say the suspects had been seen chasing a vehicle
Five people have been arrested by police in Lancashire following a shooting in Skelmersdale.
Officers from the force were alerted to an incident on July 6th after a man in his 20s appeared at a hospital in Greater Manchester.
After being checked over, it was revealed the man had suffered a gunshot wound and required medical treatment; he has since been discharged.
Lancashire Police were already aware of an incident in Skelmersdale after responders were called to a property at Flimby at 11:35pm the previous day.
During the incident, it was revealed that a number of men had been seen chasing a car as it sped off, with some of the men appearing to wield bladed weapons.
Officers have since launched an investigation, believing that the two incidents are linked.
Now, five people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Four of the suspects - men aged between 22 and 25, and from the Skelmersdale and Ormskirk areas - currently remain in police custody.
Another suspect, a 36-year-old man from Skelmersdale, was also arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, but has since been bailed pending further investigation from police.
Officers are now appealing to the public to get in touch regarding the incident, with anyone who may have CCTV footage of the attack being urged to come forward.
