A 43-year-old man has been found guilty of attempted murder after a stabbing in Blackburn.

Scott Dagg appeared at Preston Crown Court yesterday (2nd December).

The charge relate to an incident earlier this year where a man in his 30s was reportedly stabbed in the chest on Swift Close.

He was taken to hospital but later discharged himself and refused to provide a statement or support the prosecution.

Dagg was found on Barbara Castle Way after the stabbing with blood on his face and head by officers, and was subsequently arrested.

Detective Sergeant Cheryl Taylor said: “I welcome the verdict, which comes off the back of the hard work of a number of officers, in particularly the officer in charge of this case.

“Scott Dagg is a dangerous individual who stabbed a man he claimed to be a friend of, for reasons we may never truly understand.

"If the circumstances had been slightly different, he could have been stood in the dock facing a murder charge.”
