A man who admitted to 32 charges relating to the historic sexual abuse of young boys has been jailed for 21 years.

81-year-old Roy Green sexually assaulted children between the ages of eight and 14 between 1994 and 1999.

The abuse mainly happened in Accrington.

One of his victim's wrote in a statement to be read out at Preston Crown Court: “I am a grown man but inside me still lives the boy I once was. A boy who was hurt, silenced and forced to carry a weight no child should ever bear. The abuse I suffered did not end when the acts stopped. It has lived with me every single day since. It has left deep emotional and psychological scars that have shaped my life, my relationships and my sense of safety in the world.”

A report was made in 2023 against Green which led to a police investigation.

This investigation uncovered more victims who spoke about the abuse Green had inflicted on them as children.

Det Con Jack Owen, of Blackburn CID, said those who came forward to report Green are "courageous men".

He said "This despicable human being is now finally where he belongs, which is behind bars.

“I hope others who may have suffered similar abuse may also have the courage to come and speak to us safe in the knowledge we wil listen, we will investigate and we will put offenders before the courts.”
