Criminal cash funds new Rossendale community hub for women
Local initiative aids vulnerable women with early support and guidance
A new community hub in Rawtenstall is leveraging funding seized from criminals to offer vital support services for women and vulnerable individuals in Rossendale.
The initiative, supported by the Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw and Rossendale and Darwen MP Andy MacNae, is helping women access essential resources at the La Latte Lounge Community Café.
With a total investment of £15,000 through the Commissioner’s Community Fund, the hub is dedicated to creating a safe and supportive environment for women and girls.
This funding includes contributions of £10,000 from the Member of Parliament funding strand and an additional £5,000 from the Community Safety Partnership fund.
Both financial strands have reinvested assets seized from criminal activities back into Lancashire's communities.
Boosting local support services
The hub at La Latte Lounge offers a welcoming space designed to break down barriers that deter women from seeking help.
Women can access early support and guidance on a range of issues, including domestic abuse, mental health, and well-being.
The project aims to empower women through various services, such as one-to-one support sessions, practical workshops, and wellbeing activities.
Importantly, the hub facilitates connections to specialist services for those requiring further assistance.
Commissioner Clive Grunshaw highlighted the significance of reinvesting funds into community initiatives, emphasising how they transform lives by providing pivotal support to vulnerable individuals.
MP Andy MacNae further shared their gratitude for the opportunity to witness the tangible impact such funds make on local communities.
