Voters have chosen Reform UK to take control of local government in Lancashire for the next four years.

It'll be the first time the county council has changed hands since 2017, with the Conservatives holding a majority since then.

Polling ahead of the election had shown that the region would see a more open context than in previous years, which have been dominated by the Tories and Labour.

Reform leader, Nigel Farage, had targeted Lancashire as a place in which the party could do well - he visited the county twice during the campaign.

Turnout was down on the 2021 election, with around one in four eligible voters casting their ballot, compared with around four in ten last time around.

The count is still ongoing, but Reform UK have exceeded the threshold of 43 seats needed for a majority.
