Teenager sentenced after stabbing boy, 14, in chest
The knife missed the victim's aorta by millimetres
A teenage boy who stabbed a 15-year-old during a fight in Preston has been sentenced to three-years-and-four-months in youth detention.
The teenager, who was 14 at the time of the attack last March, used a kitchen knife to stab the victim.
He was left with a deep wound in his lower chest/ upper abdomen and had to have emergency surgery.
The knife missed the boy’s aorta by millimetres.
Witnesses say they saw a group of four boys on Blackpool Road near Moor Park on 31st March.
A video recovered from one of the boys' phones shows the stabbing.
It's reported a thud could be heard on the video as the knife entered the boy’s chest.
The defendant was arrested later that same day.
His friend had already burnt his tracksuit top and trousers on a barbeque in the garden.
Det Con Ben Clegg of Preston CID, said: “This case shows the dangers of knife crime.
“A teenager suffered a serious stab injury to his chest. Had the knife entered him just millimetres away from where it did, this would have been a murder investigation.
“There is no excuse for anyone to carry a knife.”
