Nineteen illegal and abandoned vehicles have been seized in Preston following a multi-agency operation carried out by officers from the Neighbourhood Policing and Prosper Partnership Team.

The initiative, which involved Preston City Council and the DVLA, targeted problematic vehicles across streets including Miller Road, Fletcher Road, Kent Street, and Great George Street.

The operation aimed to address concerns about untaxed, abandoned, and unroadworthy vehicles, which not only occupy valuable street space but can also contribute to anti-social behaviour.

Residents’ concerns addressed

PC Musa from the Prosper Partnership Team said the action was part of responding to frequent complaints from locals about abandoned vehicles:

“Local residents in this area regularly tell us that abandoned vehicles are a top issue of theirs. We are listening and working with partner agencies to tackle those issues.

“Untaxed and abandoned vehicles not only create an eyesore for residents and those working in the area, but they can also pose safety risks, so we will continue to work alongside our partners to make sure that we are addressing these concerns.”
