St. Matthew’s ward councillor Suleman Sarwar is calling on Preston residents to participate in a survey aimed at addressing antisocial behaviour and enhancing public safety.

Designed to map out nuisance activity and crime patterns, the survey equips local authorities with information necessary for targeting interventions effectively.

Cllr Sarwar noted that while he is aware of issues like street drinking, drug-related problems, and fly-tipping through surgeries and meetings, engaging a broader resident base is vital for obtaining a comprehensive community perspective.

The initiative follows established measures such as the Prosper Partnership zone and public spaces protection order introduced in December to curb street drinking and drug use in the ward.

Despite ongoing efforts, challenges persist, necessitating enhanced community involvement to supplement existing data for resolution efforts.

The survey consists of queries on local issues and suggestions for area improvement and encourages St. Matthew’s residents to voice their experiences, ensuring their insights inform cooperative strategies tackling antisocial behaviour.

Highlighting the importance of inhabitants’ contributions, Cllr Sarwar emphasized their role alongside initiatives like Operation Prosper, which unites multiple agencies for a coordinated response to crime.

Residents’ feedback is integral in adjusting strategies and fostering a safer environment, underscoring community collaboration in crime prevention.
