A family has paid tribute to Patricia Welsh, a 75-year-old woman who passed away after being involved in a road traffic collision in Preston.

The collision occurred on Sharoe Green Lane, Fulwood, near Preston College at approximately 6.50pm on 13th February.

Emergency services responded to the incident involving a Kia Carens and Welsh, who was a pedestrian.

Welsh sustained serious injuries and, despite medical efforts, she died on 20th April.

In a loving and emotional tribute, Patricia’s family said: “She was a loving mum to two kids, a sister to many siblings, a grandmother to a grandson who she adored.

“She was an outgoing woman, very independent and would do anything for anyone.

“She enjoyed shopping, seeing friends and the odd time, having a cheeky gamble on the machines.

“If she knew of anyone who was struggling for food, she would make them some food.

“When her neighbour was taken ill, she went to see him everyday to make sure he was safe and looked after.”

Investigations into the collision are still underway.

Det Sgt Matt Davidson, our Road Policing Lead Investigating officer, said: “The investigation is ongoing and I would like to appeal again to you, the public, for your assistance.

“If you were driving along Sharoe Green Lane on Friday 13th February, near to Preston College, at around 6.50pm and saw Patricia crossing the road, please get in touch.

“I would especially like to speak to the driver of a white Citroen DS3 who may have important information which can assist us in our investigation.

“If this was you, I ask you to contact the police.

“Anyone who has information or has dashcam footage from the area around the time the collision happened, please come forward to speak to us.”
