Lancashire police seize drugs following M6 stop

Detectives from Westmorland and Furness CID have charged and remanded a man and seized a quantity of suspected drugs following a stop near Junction 41 on the M6 yesterday morning (20 August).

Saimir Jahelezi, aged 31, of Priorswell Road, Nottinghamshire, was stopped by officers from the Roads Crime Unit in his vehicle travelling Northbound at around 10am.

Upon searching the vehicle, officers located and seized approximately 15kg of Cannabis and Jahelezi was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B Drugs.

The investigation and seizure was part of Lancashire Police's Operation Alliance, the force's wider ongoing response to protect the county against serious and organised crime.

Jahelezi is due to appear before Carlisle Magistrates Court today (21 August).
