Police road safety operation in Nelson and Brierfield
The operation was aimed at tackling road safety concerns, as well as anti-social behaviour.

Officers from The Prosper Partnership Team, Pendle Neighbourhood Team and Task Force joined forces on Wednesday 11th June for a targeted day of action in the Nelson and Brierfield areas of Lancashire.
The operation was aimed at tackling road safety concerns, as well as anti-social behaviour, which were identified by the local community as areas of concern through the Lancashire Talking survey.
Officers conducted speed checks across several locations in the area, and positively, only one vehicle was found to be driving above the speed limit. The driver clocked doing 61 mph in a 30-mph zone. They have been reported for the offence and will be taken to court.
One vehicle was seized on Colne Road in Brierfield as the driver only had a provisional license. The vehicle also had a young child in the car in an incorrect seat. The driver was subsequently reported for several offences.
During the operation three Section 59 warnings were issued, three people were reported for not wearing a seatbelt at the wheel, one person was reported for using a mobile phone whilst driving and one person was summonsed for speeding offences.
Later in the evening, Officers were out on high-visibility foot patrols engaging with people in the local community as well as targeting areas that residents have reported their concerns around anti-social behaviour and drugs activity. Two people were stopped and searched.
Sergeant Carl McCoy from the Prosper Partnership Team said: "Our communities have told us that road safety and ASB are areas of concern for them, and that’s why it’s imperative we carry out these days of action, to provide reassurance and help our residents feel safer in their areas.
“We are continuing to work closely with our partners to address these concerns, but we need urge all drivers to prioritise safety.
“We continue to see too many children travelling without appropriate booster seats and people driving illegally, putting themselves and others at risk.
