Police appeal after reports 12 year-old assaulted and racially abused

A man has been arrested onsuspicion of racially aggravated assault causing actual bodily harm, and on suspicion of assault and interfering with a motor vehicle after reports that a 12 year-old was assaulted and racially abused.

Police received a second report that a man had attempted to steal a van parked on Carr Road, and assaulted the driver of that van as they attempted to stop him.

Lancashire police stated:

"We now need to ask for your help. We know that at the time of the assault involving the child, there were a number of people in the area, some of whom may have been filming the incident.

"It is really important that we see any footage taken as part of our enquiries, so are making a direct appeal to you today to ask that anyone who has footage gets in touch as soon as possible."
