Lancashire Constabulary are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after a pensioner sadly died following a road traffic collision in Blackburn.

Officers were called to King Street yesterday (8 November) where it was established that the driver of a grey Seat Ibiza had collided with a pedestrian at 3.40pm.

The pedestrian, a man in his 80s, was taken to hospital with a serious head injury.

Sadly, and despite the best efforts of medical personnel he was pronounced deceased yesterday evening.

His family have been informed and police say their thoughts remain with them at this distressing time.

Sergeant Josh Begbie, from the Road Policing Unit said: “As a result of this incident a man has lost his life, and my thoughts are first and foremost with his loved ones at this time.

“Work is ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what led to this collision and I would ask anyone with information or footage to make contact with the police as soon as possible.

"I am particularly keen for anyone with dashcam footage who travelled along King Street near to the junction with Stonyhurst."
