Two men have been sentenced to prison for their roles in a six-week burglary spree across Preston that targeted ten homes and involved the theft of thousands of pounds worth of jewellery.

Ricky Chin, 51, from Burnslack Road, Ribbleton, and Anthony Powell, 71, from Condor Road, Ashton-on-Ribble, were arrested in December 2025 following warrants conducted by the South Residential Burglary Team.

Charged with conspiring to commit burglary with intent to steal, Chin pleaded guilty and received a five-and-a-half-year prison sentence.

Powell, found guilty of handling stolen goods, was sentenced to six months behind bars.

Investigations revealed Chin carried out at least one of the burglaries and sold stolen items to Powell.

The targeted jewellery included family heirlooms passed down for generations.

DC Jack Gordon of the South Residential Burglary Team commented on the impact of the burglaries, stating that such crimes extend beyond theft and can leave victims feeling unsafe in their homes.

The diligent work of investigators provided strong evidence leading to the identification and conviction of the offenders.

DC Gordon emphasised the importance of justice for victims and reiterated the force's commitment to tackling burglary through Operation Defender.
