A stretch of the M6 in Lancashire is closed this morning due to a police incident.

Junction 32 M55 at Broughton Interchange to J33 heading nothbound has been shut since the early hours of this morning (17th June).

It's expected to remain closed for some time due to the complexity of recovering the lorry.

A large amount of oil and diesel is also said to have spilled onto the carriageway which will need to be cleared.

There is a diversion route in place - road users are being told to follow the hollow circle diversion symbols on road signs.

  • Exit M6 J32 (Blackpool), onto M55
  • Follow M55 westbound to J1 Exit M55 at J1 (Broughton) and take third roundabout exit, A6 Garstang
  • Follow A6 northbound through Broughton, Barton, Bilsborrow, Garstang, to M6 J33 (Lancaster South), rejoin M6 northbound
