Train services impacted across Lancashire due to extreme heat
Amber weather warning leads to timetable changes
Train journeys across Lancashire are set to be disrupted due to an amber weather warning for extreme heat today (13th August).
Timetable changes will result in fewer trains on many routes, meaning travellers should allow extra time and check their journeys in advance.
Key routes affected include Rochdale to Blackburn, Southport to Wigan/Manchester Oxford Road, and various lines into Manchester Piccadilly.
Additional changes on the Leeds and Yorkshire routes are in place.
Commuters are advised to carry water, try travelling earlier, and seek assistance if feeling unwell.
For ticket-holders unable to travel on Thursday, Northern services have agreements in place allowing travel on alternative operators’ services.
Passengers impacted by the heat can use pre-booked tickets on Friday 14th August or Saturday 15th August.
Additional help is available from station staff or train conductors and further amendments may occur subject to weather conditions.
