Nightsafe initiative strengthens East Lancashire’s nighttime safety
Police focus on vigilance, crime prevention, and safeguarding
Lancashire Constabulary has launched the Nightsafe initiative to enhance safety in East Lancashire's town centres and nighttime economy, covering areas such as Blackburn with Darwen, Hyndburn, and Burnley.
Nightsafe aims at preventing crime, tackling anti-social behaviour, safeguarding vulnerable individuals, and fostering a welcoming environment for all those enjoying a night out.
Police officers conduct high-visibility patrols while collaborating with licensed premises, door staff, and various partner agencies, ensuring public engagement and protective measures are in place.
Safer Neighbourhoods Inspector Liz Penson emphasized the importance of proactive police presence in town centres, providing reassurance, identifying vulnerability, and intervening early when necessary.
"Our officers are committed to supporting the public, safeguarding at-risk individuals, and allowing everyone to confidently enjoy East Lancashire's nightlife," Penson stated.
Residents are encouraged to take personal safety measures such as not leaving drinks unattended, keeping phones charged, staying with friends, and using licensed transport providers for their journey home.
Trusting instincts and reporting suspicious circumstances can play a significant role in ensuring a safe night out.
Lancashire’s Nightsafe initiative is dedicated to maintaining public safety and offering a secure environment for enjoyment and relaxation during nighttime hours.
