Motorbike riders injured after collision in Bacup

Police appeal for information following Burnley Road accident

Police in Lancashire are appealing for information after two motorbike riders sustained serious injuries in a collision on Burnley Road in Bacup.

The incident occurred around 1:50pm on the previous day and involved two motorbikes and a Mercedes GLC220.

It is reported that the rider of a Suzuki GSXS 1000 motorbike lost control and fell while taking evasive action as the Mercedes was reversing onto a private driveway.

The rider collided with the Mercedes as a result.

A Honda CBR 1000 RR motorbike, following the Suzuki, also lost control, causing its rider to fall.

The injured motorbike riders, a woman in her 50s and a man in his 40s, were transported to hospital where they remain.

Fortunately, their injuries are not considered life-threatening.

The driver of the Mercedes was uninjured and remained at the scene.

Police are asking for any witnesses to the collision or those with relevant information to come forward.
