Morecambe FC: membership to the National League suspended

The National League have released a statement saying that Morecambe Football Club's membership is suspended with immediate effect.

The decision was made following a meeting today around concerns over the Shrimps' compliance with the National League rules.

It also states:

• The Club will also remain under embargo ahead of the new season
• Morecambe Football Club will also be removed from the National League Cup for the forthcoming season.

The Committee will meet again on Wednesday August 20th to determine if outstanding items have been satisfied, and to decide the Club’s ability to retain Membership in the Competition.

It comes as a sale of the club has still not been completed.

Meanwhile a friendly that was due to take place against Lancaster City tomorrow (Tues 29th July) has been cancelled.
