A significant update has emerged in the investigation surrounding the death of 75-year-old Thomas Olverson in Scarisbrick in July 2024.

Thomas Olverson was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after reports of a firearms discharge in a field off Pinfold Lane at around 4:55 pm on 25th July 2024.

An investigation was promptly launched by detectives, leading to extensive enquiries.

Initially, a 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder but bailed pending further enquiries.

Recent developments

Yesterday, the man was re-arrested, and after a detailed consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, Adam Olverson, 31, of Pinfold Lane, Scarisbrick, was formally charged.

He faces charges including manslaughter, possession of a firearm without a license, and possession of ammunition without a license.

Adam Olverson is scheduled to appear at Preston Magistrates Court on 1st July.
