Man seriously injured in collision in Preston

The incident involved an off-road bike and a car at the junction of Arnhem Road and Fishwick Parade

A man has been seriously injured following a collision in Preston.

Emergency services were called out on Sunday December 28th following a collision between an off-road bike and a Renault Clio at the junction of Arnhem Road and Fishwick Parade.

It happened around 4pm.

The bike was travelling along Arnhem Road towards Fishwick Parade along with four other off-road bikes when the collision happened.

The rider, a man in his 30s, was thrown from the bike and suffered multiple injuries. He was taken to hospital where his condition is described as serious.

The Renault driver was unhurt.

Police say by they arrived shortly after the collision all the bikes had been removed from the scene, and the other riders had left the area.

Following enquiries a man in his 30's from Preston was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and a second man, also in his 30's and from Preston was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and assisting an offender. They remain in custody.

Sgt Josh Begbie, of the Road Policing Unit, said: “This collision has left a man with some very serious injuries, and we are investigating the full circumstances surrounding the collision.

“I would appeal to anyone who saw what happened or who has any footage of either the collision itself or the bikes in the time before or after the collision, to get in touch.

“While we have made two arrests as part of our investigation, our enquiries are very much continuing.”
