Man jailed for breaching Sexual Harm Prevention Order

A man from Burnley has been jailed for a year for breaching his Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
70 yar-old Eamon Brewster was made subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order and placed on the sex offenders register for life back in 2019.
In August this year, officers attended Brewster’s home address to carry out a home compliance visit. During this visit they discovered a new laptop belonging to Brewster which he had not made them aware of.
Following enquiries, it was established that the laptop had been used for the last few weeks. As a result, Brewster was arrested for breaching his SHPO.
PC Anthony Hogan of the Management of Sexual Offenders and Violent Offenders team at East Division said:
“Brewster breached his Sexual Harm Prevention Order by purchasing and using a new laptop without notifying police.
“He disregarded the order imposed on him by the court but was caught out by our team making unannounced visits to monitor his behaviour.
“I welcome the prison sentence handed out, it shows that breaching orders put in place by the court will not be tolerated.”
