A man has been charged with manslaughter after an attack in Blackburn, which led to the death of another man.

35-year-old Polish national Marek Krygier died at the Royal Preston Hospital on 28 March.

He was involved in an altercation with two men outside the Home Bargains store in Byrom Street at about 6.45pm the evening before (27 March).

A postmortem examination showed the cause of the Marek’s death was a head injury.

Two men, aged 43 and 44 from Blackburn, were arrested on 31 March on suspicion of murder.

Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, Connor Doyle, aged 43, of Cheltenham Road, Blackburn, was charged with manslaughter.

The 44-year-old man has been released on condition bail pending the result of further enquiries.

Detectives are still keen to hear from anyone who went to Home Bargains between 4pm and 9pm on 27 March, and who witnessed an altercation between a group of men outside the main entrance.

Anyone who has any footage such as dashcam, CCTV, or mobile, from the area at around that time is urged to get in touch.
