A man has been charged with murdering a teenager from Ormskirk during a mass brawl in July 2023.

Last month, Thomas Dures was arrested in Greece in connection with the stabbing of Matthew Daulby on Railway Road.

Lancashire Police has confirmed he has now been charged with murder following his extradition to the UK.

Another man, Henry Houghton, was found guilty of murdering Matthew following a trial in March 2024.

Lancashire Police said: "Our officers attended Railway Road at 12.05am on July 29, 2023, to reports of an ongoing disturbance.

"Nineteen-year-old Matthew was found a short distance away with stab injuries. Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, Matthew sadly died later in hospital.

"Our thoughts remain with Matthew’s loved ones who continue to be supported by specially-trained officers.

"A post mortem examination established that the cause of Matthew’s death was a stab wound.

"Following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, 21-year-old Thomas Dures, of Whalley Drive, Aughton, was last night (7th January 2025) charged with Matthew’s murder."

Dures is due to appear at Preston Magistrats Court via video link.
