Part of the M6 in Lancashire remains closed this morning (5 February) after a serious crash.

Emergency services are at the scene of the collision involving a lorry and a van.

They have said they expect the stretch of the northbound carriageway between junctions 32 and 33 will be shut for some time.

In a statement on X, the force said: "The M6 Northbound between junctions 32-33 is currently closed due to a road traffic collision.

"We anticipate that the motorway will be closed for some time. We’d recommend looking for an alternative route.

"We’ll update you here once the motorway is open."
