Woman's body found on M55 hard shoulder near Blackpool
Police investigating after motorway closure
Police have confirmed the discovery of a woman's body on the hard shoulder of the M55 motorway near Blackpool.
Authorities were alerted at 10.20pm on 10th August following a report of concern for a woman's welfare.
Ten minutes later, officers received another call from a motorist driving towards Blackpool who believed they had seen a body on the motorway.
Officers attended the scene between junctions 1 and 2, near the Broughton interchange, where the body was found.
Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the discovery.
The motorway was closed for approximately five hours while officers conducted their inquiries.
