Lancashire Police seized 77 uninsured vehicles during a targeted week-long operation aiming to make roads safer.

Operation Drive Insured ran from Monday 20th to Sunday 26th April, stepping up efforts across the county.

Uninsured drivers are statistically more likely to be involved in accidents and linked to criminal activity.

The consequences for driving uninsured can include fines, penalty points, and vehicle seizure, with cases possibly leading to an unlimited fine and driving ban.

Chief Inspector John Jennings-Wharton from Lancashire Police's Roads Policing Unit highlighted the risks posed by uninsured drivers to public safety.

While the operation focused on uninsured drivers for a week, Inspector Jennings-Wharton emphasised that efforts to tackle such offenders continue throughout the year.

Last year, Lancashire Police seized over 4,600 vehicles due to documentation offences.

The initiative reinforces the message that driving without insurance is irresponsible, stressing the importance of road safety for everyone.
