Lancashire Police seize 101 uninsured cars in one week
Operation Drive Insured ran from Monday to Sunday last week across the county
A police operation to crack down on uninsured drivers in Lancashire has seen 101 cars seized in just seven days.
Op Drive Insured ran from Monday 10 to Sunday 16 November.
Officers have urged anyone who knows about an uninsured driver to report them via 101.
The penalties for driving without insurance include: a £300 fine, six penalty points, and the uninsured vehicle being taken away.
Chief Inspector John Jennings-Wharton, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “Every uninsured driver is a danger to themselves and to others.
“By removing uninsured vehicles from our roads, we’re protecting lives and sending a clear message - driving without insurance is reckless and unacceptable.
Clive Grunshaw, Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, added: “Targeted enforcement operations like this are vital for improving road safety and the results speak for themselves.
"It is important that everyone in Lancashire is safe and feels safe on our roads.
"I will continue to work closely with the Chief Constable to make sure our roads policing teams have the backing and resources they need to target anyone who puts themselves and others in danger through the illegal use of our road network."
