Police and Trading Standards crack down on illicit sales in town
Burnley's Neighbourhood Task Force, in collaboration with Lancashire Trading Standards, has successfully targeted the illegal sale of tobacco and counterfeit goods in a recent two-day operation.
Sergeant Victoria Bramley, representing the Burnley Neighbourhood Task Force, shared details of the operation, where officers conducted visits to several retail businesses in the town.
The raids resulted in the seizure of illegal tobacco, cigarettes, and toys, with an estimated retail value exceeding £17,000.
These seized products were found to be illegal and are considered to pose significant health risks to consumers.
The efforts to eliminate these dangerous goods align with the ongoing commitment of the task force and its partners to safeguard the community.
Sergeant Bramley expressed satisfaction with the operation, stating, “I’m glad we have been able to remove a quantity of them off the streets of Burnley and we will continue to work with our partners to tackle this issue.”
The police are urging residents to report any suspected illegal sales, emphasising the importance of community cooperation in disrupting these activities.
