A range of illegal e-bikes, e-scooters, and off-road bikes have been seized from Blackburn streets as part of a police initiative against anti-social behaviour.

Officers from the Blackburn with Darwen Neighbourhood and Task Force Team collaborated with the National Air Service and Roads Policing Team to focus on road safety and the unlawful use of bikes across the area.

The targeted operation took place on 23rd January, with goals that included reducing anti-social behaviour, enforcing road traffic legislation, and educating riders about the legal use of e-bikes and e-scooters.

During the operation, a vehicle suspected to be linked to drug activities was stopped, revealing a considerable amount of cannabis. Two men, aged 39 and 26 from Blackburn, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.

Another vehicle related to drug supply was also identified but initially failed to stop for police. After a brief chase and a vehicle search, officers discovered a significant amount of suspected class A drugs. A 25-year-old man from Blackburn and a 26-year-old man from Darwen were arrested under similar suspicion.

All individuals arrested have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

In addition, 13 surrons, e-bikes, and e-scooters were confiscated, primarily due to lack of valid licenses or insurance as per Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act. Some of these vehicles are slated for destruction.

Operation Centurion is a county-wide effort led by Lancashire Constabulary to tackle anti-social behaviour, supported by Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw and various partners.
