An 18-year-old girl has died following a collision in Haslingden.

Emergency services were called out to Helmshore Road and the junction with Dean Road at around 11.49pm on 4 May to reports of a crash.

Officers say a VW Golf crashed into the side of a house and then a retaining wall after leaving the carriageway.

The driver, a man in his 20s, died in hospital yesterday morning (5 May).

Police have now confirmed that one of the passengers in the car, an 18-year-old girl, died yesterday night.

Another 18-year-old girl is in hospital with serious injuries.

A Lancashire Police spokesperson said "Our thoughts are very much with her family and loved ones at this sad and distressing time.

"They are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers.

"As officers investigate the cause of the collision, we are continuing to appeal for witnesses, footage and information.

If you saw the collision or were in the area at the time it happened and haven’t yet spoken to us, please get in touch."
