3 men have been found guilty of hare coursing in Lancashire.

Joseph Hodgson, 22, Tuebrook ,19, and Ben Blackham, 19, have been found guilty of four offences relating to hare coursing.

The offences relate to hunting a wild mammal with dogs and trespassing.

During the evening of Friday 1st November 2024, officers from South Rural Task Force made to the area of Wyke Lane, Scarisbrick, and detained the trio of males nearby with their lurcher dogs.

They were sentenced last week at Preston Magistrates, Wednesday 13th August 2025.

Each were given a community order, disqualifying them from owning dogs for a period of 3 years.

They were ordered to carry out 40 hrs unpaid work within the next 12 months and were also met with court fines and charges.

South RTF wish to reinforce the message that hare coursing is barbaric for the animals involved and extremely distressing for the rural community.
