Man arrested after reported attempted kidnap of woman in Fleetwood
Police advise community of increased patrols and ongoing investigation
A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted kidnap and public order offences following a report made by a woman in Fleetwood.
The incident reportedly took place just after 12pm on 9th August when a man driving a vehicle approached a woman on North Albert Street.
The man attempted to communicate with the woman before exiting his car and asking her to get in.
The woman successfully managed to evade the situation and later reported the encounter to the police.
Since the report, an investigation has been ongoing, leading to the arrest of the suspect who is currently in custody.
Authorities confirm they are not seeking anyone else in connection with this report.
In response to community concerns, the local police have increased the presence of Neighbourhood officers in Fleetwood to provide reassurance.
Officials encourage residents to approach officers if they have any worries.
Additionally, police caution against speculation online or otherwise, acknowledging the impact on those involved and emphasising that investigations are in progress.
