Cleveleys to host first Continental Market this summer
Cleveleys is set to host a four-day Continental Market for the first time this summer.
The event will take place at The Plaza event space on the seafront, where the top end of Victoria Road West meets South Promenade.
It is being organised by Merseyside-based RR Events, which runs more than 40 similar events across the UK each year.
Between 20 and 25 stalls are expected at the market, including a small number of local stallholders from the Cleveleys area.
When is the Cleveleys Continental Market?
The market will run from Thursday 20 August to Sunday 23 August.
Opening times will be:
Thursday to Saturday: 10am to 6pm
Sunday: 10am to 4pm
RR Events will also provide Continental Market stalls at Fleetwood’s Food, Fish and Music Festival the week before, from Friday 14 August to Sunday 16 August.
That event is being organised by Wyre Council-owned Fleetwood Market and sponsored by a number of fish merchants from the town.
What will be at the market?
The Cleveleys Continental Market will feature a range of food, fresh produce and handcrafted goods from around the world.
Visitors can expect Greek, Thai and Mexican food, as well as produce including olives, cheeses, macaroons and tiramisu.
There will also be handcrafted items on sale, including rugs from Asia, wood carvings from Africa and a selection of products from South America.
Organisers looking forward to first Cleveleys event
Joanne Evans, office manager for RR Events, said the team is excited to bring the market to Cleveleys for the first time.
She said: “We’ve been going for 15 years and have been all over the country but this will be our first time in Cleveleys so we’re really looking forward to it.
“I regularly come to Blackpool and St Annes for days out and I love the seafront there.
“I know that sometimes people are a bit wary coming to these kind of markets because they are worried about the price but we’ve arranged it that all the food stalls will be offering a £5 affordable meal deal on the day.
“There’s no pressure to buy, people can just come along and see what’s on offer.”
