Fire crews were engaged over a busy weekend, managing several fire incidents, including a significant wildfire on Darwen Moor emitting large smoke plumes near Belgrave Road.

In addition to the wildfire, firefighters attended a grass fire in Walton-le-Dale and a blaze in a derelict building in Charnock Richard.

Incidents have been brought under control, but the public is advised to avoid these areas and refrain from flying drones that may interfere with emergency operations.

Ongoing Wildfire Management

As of 16:25 on 12th July, fire engines and specialist appliances remain at the wildfire site near Belgrave Road, Darwen Moorland in Darwen, with firefighting efforts underway.

The aerial drone team is present to assist, hence it is critical to keep personal drones grounded as they could obstruct these essential operations.

Firefighting is progressing with the use of Hagglund vehicles to monitor and extinguish the wildfire.

Update as of 22:00 on 12th July confirms that operations are continuing, and the public is still urged to avoid the area for safety reasons.

Further information will be provided as the situation develops.
