The V&A is set to launch an exciting UK tour featuring the David Bowie archive with 100 items connected to the legendary rock artist.

Named "David Bowie: On Tour," the exhibition will showcase numerous items that have never been publicly displayed before.

The tour will kick off at the V&A Dundee and will run from November until February 2027.

The exhibition includes pieces from Bowie's Ziggy Stardust era, with costumes designed by Freddie Burretti and Kansai Yamamoto.

Sketches for the tour, along with an acoustic guitar used during that period, will also be on display.

Visitors will have the chance to view Bowie’s keys from his Berlin apartment, concept art for the cover of the album Low, and the Natasha Korniloff-designed costume from the Ashes To Ashes video, among other unique items.

The Man Who Fell To Earth clapperboard and Bowie's first instrument, a Grafton Alto saxophone, are part of the exhibition as well.

After its debut in Scotland, the tour will move to Showtown in Blackpool, the Bowes Museum in County Durham, the Ferens Art Gallery in Hull, and the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery.

Additional venues will be announced.

Sir Tristram Hunt, director of the V&A, emphasised the importance of David Bowie: On Tour as a national collaboration providing audiences across the UK with access to Bowie’s extraordinary archive.

Bowie, widely regarded as one of the greatest artists, had a career defined by significant changes in sound and style.

His influence spanned pop and glam rock to soul, krautrock, dance, and jazz.

He collaborated with luminaries such as Queen, Mick Jagger, and Trent Reznor and released his final album, Blackstar, shortly before his passing in 2016.

The exhibition follows the opening of the David Bowie Centre at the V&A Storehouse, which now houses a permanent display of Bowie-related artefacts.
