Cyclist Michael Knox dies following collision in Skelmersdale
Michael Knox, fondly known as "Mike the Bike," has passed away following a collision last week
Michael Knox, a cyclist in his 80s, has died following a collision with a car on Gillibrands Road in Skelmersdale last week.
On Tuesday 10th February, police were called to the scene at around 9:50am after reports that a blue MG ZS had collided with an Apollo Falcon pushbike.
The driver of the car stopped at the scene and Knox was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Knox's family have expressed their sadness at his passing.
In a tribute, the family said: “Michael, fondly known as “Mike the Bike”, was rarely seen without his bike and had a lifelong love of cycling.
A proud Toffee, he loved his beloved Everton FC and never missed the chance for a good football chat.
He could talk to anyone about anything, picking up stories along the way and taking great joy in sharing them.
He will be greatly missed by family and friends and remembered for his warmth, friendliness, and gentle spirit.”
