Morecambe FC: Current owner says sale will complete today
Jason Whittingham has named the leader of the consortium who will be buying the club

The current owner of Morecambe Football Club says the sale of the Shrimps will complete today.
Jason Whittingham from the Bond Group said in a statement:
"An announcement had been planned for this afternoon, but due to false speculation about the buyer’s identity we have received consent to disclose the buyer’s identity.
"The consortium buying Bond Group’s interest in the club, subject to National League approval, is led by Mr Jonny Cato with an impressive group being built around him to develop the club over the coming seasons."
The statement goes on to say that the sale agreement includes a generous payment from the buyer to pay staff and players, while the National League approval process is completed, and that further announcements will be made today.
Panjab Warriors were due to complete the sale of the club earlier this month. They've previously said they are 'dismayed' by the events since they agreed to buy the Shrimps.
