Burnley weaver announced as new High Sheriff of Lancashire
David Collinge will take on the historic role in April.
A sixth-generation weaver from Burnley has been named the new High Sheriff of Lancashire.
David Collinge will officially take up the role on 10 April at County Hall in Preston, succeeding the current High Sheriff Jim Carter.
The role, which dates back more than 1,000 years, supports the Crown, the courts, emergency services and community organisations across the county.
Mr Collinge spent much of his career at John Spencer Textiles, his family’s Burnley weaving business, and remains involved in promoting the UK textile industry.
He says he’s proud to serve Lancashire and hopes to highlight the work of people supporting communities across the county.
