BT Group is proposing to close its Blackburn office on Jubilee Street and its Accrington contact centre as part of its strategy to optimise office spaces and modernise operations.

A spokesperson for BT Group stated that these closures are a step towards reinvesting in sites that better support future working methods and aim to provide employees with improved work environments.

"As part of BT’s ongoing strategy to optimise our office estate and unlock value as part of our modernisation programme, we are proposing to close our Blackburn office on Jubilee Street as well as our Accrington contact centre," the BT spokesperson said.

"This change will allow BT to continue to reinvest in spaces that better support our future ways of working and will provide our colleagues with a significantly improved work environment."

The company is working closely with employees affected by these changes, with most expected to be relocated to nearby locations, including the newly refurbished site in Warrington.

Currently, BT Group employs just under 700 individuals across the two buildings in Blackburn and Accrington.

The company is confident that for many employees, the Warrington site is within reasonable travel distance.

According to BT Group, no customers or services will be impacted by this proposal.
