Murder charges filed against two in connection with 2023 death of baby
Accused set to appear at Lincoln Magistrates' Court

Two individuals have been charged with murder following the death of an eight-week-old baby in 2023.
Liam Neve, aged 26, from Spinney Close in Grimoldby, Louth, and 26-year-old Lauren Murgatroyd of Novak Place, Morecambe, Lancashire, are facing multiple charges, including murder.
Officers attended an address in Bourne on 31st October 2023, where the baby was transported to hospital and later died.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy McWatt of the Major Crime Unit commented on the case, expressing that his thoughts are first and foremost with those impacted by the case.
"The investigation into this tragic death has been ongoing since 2023 and has involved a complex and large-scale effort," he said.
"We are now in a position to charge two individuals in connection with the incident. We recognise the deep distress this has caused and remain committed to seeking justice in memory of the baby who tragically lost their life."
Both Neve and Murgatroyd are scheduled to appear at Lincoln Magistrates' Court on 24th June 2026.

• Murder
• Making a false statement concerning birth
• Causing or allowing the death of a child
• Two counts of ABH
• Two counts of Section 18 GBH
• Two counts of causing or allowing a child to suffer serious physical harm
Lauren Murgatroyd has been charged with:
• Murder
• Making a false statement concerning birth
• Causing or allowing the death of a child
• Two counts of Section 18 GBH
• Two counts of causing or allowing a child to suffer serious physical harm
