Blackpool Tower Ballroom stars in hit Netflix Japanese film 10Dance
Iconic venue showcased as key filming location in globally-streamed romantic drama
The Blackpool Tower Ballroom has taken a starring role in Netflix’s Japanese romantic drama 10Dance, attracting international viewers to one of the resort’s most famous landmarks.
Released late last year, the film has already been streamed over 5 million times, ranking 2nd in the Japanese charts and 5th in the non-English global charts. Directed by Keishi Ōtomo and based on Satoh Inoue’s manga, the story follows two rival dancers training across ballroom and Latin disciplines.
Blackpool features prominently in 10Dance, with key sights such as the Blackpool Tower, the Imperial Hotel, Tower Festival Headland, and the Illuminations appearing alongside the Ballroom’s ornate architecture and renowned dance floor.
Global appeal and history
The Ballroom has long been recognised as one of the world’s most iconic dance venues, hosting major global productions. Its lengthy roster includes appearances in Tim Burton’s Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, Camila Cabello's Cinderella, and BBC’s ever-popular Strictly Come Dancing.
Kate Shane MBE, Managing Director of Blackpool Tourism Limited, described the Ballroom as “a jewel in our crown,” adding:
“Productions like 10Dance showcase its magic to audiences worldwide. We are proud to attract crews from across the globe who recognise the Ballroom’s unique atmosphere and history.
“We were delighted to welcome the cast and crew earlier this year and facilitate filming locations across the resort. Blackpool offers so many opportunities for production companies, and we look forward to welcoming many more in 2026.”
A moment of pride for Blackpool
For 10Dance, Blackpool’s rich cultural heritage has taken the spotlight, reinforcing the resort’s status as a filming destination that continues to inspire creativity on a global stage.
