Blackpool Police have seized 35 electric scooters and bikes during a dedicated operation targeting their illegal use in the town.

Conducted over Friday, 16th October, and Saturday, 17th October, the operation saw police undertake visible and plain clothes patrols supported by Lancashire's Roads Policing Unit.

During the two days, 16 vehicles were seized on Friday and a further 19 on Saturday, including one e-bike reaching speeds over 60 mph.

In addition to seizing vehicles, police arrested a 22-year-old man from Poulton Le Fylde on suspicion of dangerous driving, failure to stop for police, and driving while disqualified. He has been released on bail pending investigation.

Officers also gathered intelligence on high-powered e-vehicles and located a stolen motorbike, with an investigation now underway.

Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant Nikki Fuller emphasised the ongoing public concern over the misuse of e-bikes and e-scooters, stating, "The misuse of e-bikes and e-scooters remains a significant concern for many people in Blackpool."

She added that through the operation, police are demonstrating their commitment to tackling anti-social riding and improving safety on the streets.

The operation is part of Operation Centurion, the police force's response to anti-social behaviour, supported by Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw.

Residents are encouraged to report anti-social driving concerns by calling 101 or reporting online through the Lancashire Police website. In emergency situations, always call 999.
