Police investigate after two men assaulted in Blackpool disturbances

Officers seek help following overnight incidents in town centre

Blackpool Police are appealing for information following two serious assaults in the town centre that occurred during a disturbance in the early hours.

The incidents took place around 3am in the Queen Street, Abingdon Street, and Talbot Road areas.

A man in his 30s sustained a stab-type wound to his hand outside Bar 19 on Queen Street.

He was treated at the hospital and subsequently discharged.

A 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm and remains in custody.

The second assault occurred further along Talbot Road where a man in his 20s suffered significant head injuries.

He is still receiving medical treatment in hospital.

A 40-year-old man has been arrested in relation to this assault on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incidents or has footage to contact them, as there may be individuals yet to come forward who were present during the disturbance.

Assurances have been given that the incidents are believed to be isolated and unrelated, with increased patrols in the area to provide reassurance.

Residents are urged to pass any information or footage on to the police through official channels and avoid speculation online as the investigation continues.
