Emily Rawes, a resident of Blackpool, is urging football fans to take part in the Every Minute Matters campaign by Sky Bet and the British Heart Foundation, aimed at teaching CPR to the masses.

Emily experienced the sudden loss of her brother Jay due to a cardiac arrest at home in January 2024, despite CPR efforts from his partner.

The campaign has reached a milestone of 500,000 people learning CPR, and Emily is calling on Blackpool fans to join the initiative.

H2 More People Needed for Lifesaving Skills

The campaign aims to train attendees in CPR using the British Heart Foundation's free RevivR tool in just 15 minutes.

In the UK, over 40,000 cardiac arrests occur annually outside hospitals, with a survival rate of less than 10 per cent.

Learning CPR can more than double the chances of survival.

H2 Big Rewards for Learners

Blackpool fans who participate in CPR training by Tuesday 31st March have the chance to win a unique experience with their team.

This includes four VIP tickets to a home game.

Fans need to complete the CPR training and share their motivation for learning or updating their knowledge via the Every Minute Matters CPR Squad Giveaway form.

The winner will be selected by Tom Lockyer, a campaign ambassador who has survived cardiac arrest, alongside a panel from Sky Bet and the British Heart Foundation.

H2 Calls to Learn

Emily Rawes reflected on her loss and emphasised the importance of gaining CPR skills in emergencies.

Tom Lockyer highlighted the impact of CPR and encouraged continued participation in the campaign.

The Every Minute Matters initiative continues to gain support with public figures promoting the cause during Heart Month and Sky Bet donating to the British Heart Foundation for goals scored across leagues.

Lizzie Moscardini, from the British Heart Foundation’s RevivR programme, expressed satisfaction with the nationwide participation and encouraged more people to learn CPR.
